Why is it not possible to dub rectangular Sudoku puzzles? Is it that the verification would be more difficult?

Given that rectangular puzzles are more difficult, I find it annoying not being able to dub a newspaper puzzle in to the program when its rectangular.

It will be possible in the next version of Sudoku.
