When you say the puzzle has more than one solution, are you saying it is somehow corrupted or not worthy of completing?

harvdog There must be some corruption of the puzzle. As Pat reported there are multiple solutions, 120 in fact. Can you post the original grid?

Most long-time sudoku players are of the opinion that a "real" sudoku puzzle has only one solution; multiple-solution puzzles aren't considered to be true sudoku. Personally, I think that multiple-solution puzzles are a waste of my time, considering that there are so many hundreds of thousands of single-solution sudoku available.

Unfortunately many handhelds, freeware programs, Web sites, books, etc. haven't yet figured out the difference, and put out many multi-solution puzzles. Exasperatingly, a number of them seem to think that only their solution is the "right" one. BAD information are worst than NO information.

"The grid has multiple solutions." is not the problem.
The problem is "There is no information about the multiple solutions."
Sudoku by definition, each grid has only one solution.
So, it shall be ONLY ONE.

IMHO, multiple solution grids are more interesting mathematically.
At http://www.subundle.com/, they intentionally create grids with multiple solutions.
But with proper hints, the same grid can now be played by players of different levels.

May not be sudoku grid anymore, but maybe a better game.

I bet submacrolize can give you heaps of GOOD information. All 120 of them.
