One final question on SJE. Does it do grid size 9x9 only, or can it work for smaller grids (5x5 to 8x8)

SJE only works on 9x9 grid size, values like 9, 3, 81 are pretty much hardcoded in the source code.

I posted this thread some time ago: various NxN (N≠9) jigsaw sudokus.

The inference is that the hardcoded values in SE can be modified for other grid/block sizes. I have a collection of SEs for personal use! However I have not released any of those because of the GPL license that accompanies SE, and I do not have the time to properly maintain/release all those versions. I'll stick to updating those I've released on GitHub...
