Killer ratings in the Times

Postby 999_Springs » Fri Jul 11, 2008 5:35 pm

How are killers in The Times rated? My suspicion is that the ratings have been less consistent. For the first time, I timed myself on these puzzles over a week for comparison of ratings and got:

Monday: Gentle 8 minutes
Tuesday: Moderate 7 minutes
Wednesday: Tricky 17 minutes
Thursday: Tough 12 minutes
Friday: Deadly 10 minutes (new personal best)
Once upon a time I was a teenager who was active on here 2007-2011
ocean and eleven should have paired up to make a sudoku-solving duo called Ocean's Eleven

To be honest, I have no idea where they get their 'expected solving times' from but they are always wildly out.

For those who do not see them, they range from about 14 mins (easy) to up to an hour and a half (deadly) but in recent times, none have taken me more than a half hour or so.
