Sudoku Players' Forum (clone)

Hi!

Found this puzzle which involves both an X-wing and a quad. I don't know whether it is possible to solve without resorting to these two techniques. Any way, I thought I'd post it here as it's a good one. Took me one hour to solve:

It doesn't need anything more complex than locked candidates.

(Took me under four minutes using Simple Sudoku, with no hints and no errors .)

Agreed angus, nothing complex required, but probably because of where they were located I actually did see a naked quad at a very early stage (or hidden pair, somehow I find it easier to spot naked's rather than hidden's).

Certainly did not need anything like an x-wing.

Well, it was nice to be able to apply the X-wing. I tend to use Angus' Simple Sudoku to solve Fiendish or "diabolical" levels so I don't have to wade through the forests of candidates. Otherwise I tend to use paper & pencil, it has some kind of old world charm
